5 simple tips for writing your welcome series

I sent out an email on Friday revealing why I’m not a big fan of the welcome series.

That said:

I know many folks still use them.

So, if you’re one of them…

SHAME ON YOU!

Just kidding ;)

Here are 5 simple tips to make yours better:

***

1) Introduce your unique worldview

What’s different about the way you view the world as it relates to the topic of your newsletter?

This is what sets you apart from the competition.

And the reason why someone will choose you over everyone else.

Highlight this from Day 1.

For instance:

In my welcome email, I define what “Newsletter Freedom” means:

- Being able to self-fund your subscriber acquisition
- Being able to replace your 9 to 5 income

And then how we get there:

- Acquisition funnel
- Daily newsletter
- Courses, coaching & community

That’s it.

This simple roadmap reflects my core values and helps indoctrinate new subscribers on the ‘why’ before we dive deep into the ‘how’.

2) Tell your origin story

Where did your journey begin?

And how did you get to where you are now?

This is a crucial conversion element if you’re selling higher-priced products and services.

People need to be sold on YOU before they invest $1,000+.

3) Uninstall false beliefs

There are 3-5 beliefs preventing your audience from buying.

These are misconceptions about you, your offer, or your mechanism.

Identify them and use storytelling to uninstall them.

4) Reinforce your format

All relationships are based on expectations.

From the minute someone joins your list, you’re teaching them what to expect and how to respond.

So the format of your welcome emails should match that of your newsletter.

For example:

If you send story-driven emails like I do…

It doesn’t really make sense to deliver long value-driven emails in your welcome series.

Because as soon as new subscribers start getting your newsletter…

They’re gonna be going “WTF is this??”

5) Send an email every day

New subscribers are hot.

They just took multiple actions to put themselves on your list…

Which is why they’re the ones most likely to convert into buyers.

So don’t let them go cold.

Make sure they’re getting an email every day.
