how to get AI to write in your authentic voice

Confession:

I’m using AI to write more and more these days.

In fact, I submitted the initial batch of ad copy for a new agency client last week…

(which was almost entirely written by AI)

… and the client said I was a genius.

Take a look:

They also said the voice sounded right.

Which is the trickiest part.

If you’ve ever tried to get AI to write something for you…

Chances are, it was full of telltale AI giveaways like em dashes and flowery adjectives you’d never use in real life.

So… what’s the trick?

Well, there’s a few.

Some of which I’m not at liberty to reveal just yet ;)

But a simple one I can share is this:

Use AI to create a writing style guide for yourself.

All you have to do is upload some of your own authentically-written samples…

Then ask Claude or ChatGPT to make you a style guide.

It’ll extract what makes your voice unique across dimensions such as:

- punctuation
- emphasis
- emojis
- tone
- structure
- specific techniques
- etc etc

This gives you an easy way to convert any piece of content or copy you get from AI into something that sounds more like you.

Or the client you’re writing for.
